The Ranking
Season Performance
After finishing fifth spot on the Premiership ladder for 2015 with 15 wins, Richmond will take on North Melbourne in the first week of finals. The tiger's will be competing in their third straight elimination final. They will also be entering the finals on the back of four straight wins. Unlike last year where they won their last nine games to quickly sneak into eighth spot, this season the tigers have been in the top eight since round eight. In the elimination finals last year, Richmond also received a 57 point smashing against Port Adelaide. Hoping to change that result in this final, Richmond are determined to secure another win over North Melbourne. The club have learnt from those past two finals defeats and moved on. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the tigers this season, after they had a poor start to when they lost four of their six games it looked to be the start of a disappointing season. However, being one of the best-performing sides this season they came back to finish the season with 15 wins and 7 losses, proving that they could match it with the best in the competition. A number of disappointing losses throughout the season only encouraged the tigers to come back firing to produce some outstanding victories. Richmond have attained 10 premierships however their last was in 1980 in an 81- point victory over Collingwood. Overall, Richmond’s performance this season has been quite strong and if they can maintain their confidence, consistency and momentum they’ve shown the last 14-15 weeks, the tigers are looking well-prepared for the finals.
